Project Engineer – Bridge & Transportation Construction

Location: Los Angeles, California

Overview

We are partnering with a leading heavy civil contractor specializing in transportation and bridge infrastructure to hire a Project Engineer to support the delivery of multiple bridge construction projects throughout the Los Angeles region.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to gain hands-on experience on complex bridge and structural transportation projects , while building a clear path toward Project Manager and senior leadership roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the execution of bridge construction projects , including foundations, substructure, superstructure, and deck work
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, quantity takeoffs, and cost tracking
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and document control
  • Coordinate with Superintendents, inspectors, designers, and subcontractors
  • Track material procurement and subcontractor progress
  • Assist with budget updates, forecasting, and monthly reporting
  • Support quality control, safety compliance, and Caltrans/DOT documentation
  • Participate in constructability reviews and preconstruction planning

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 2–7 years of heavy civil construction experience , ideally on bridge or transportation projects
  • Exposure to bridge structures such as piles, footings, columns, girders, decks, and falsework
  • Experience on public works / Caltrans / DOT projects strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management , or a related field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, field-driven environment
  • Experience with Procore, Primavera, or similar construction software preferred
